The most common mistakes when working with vacuum lifters

From a dirty suction pad to a missing reserve: these mistakes cost safety and material.

Mistake 1: Not cleaning the pad

A single grain of sand under the pad can reduce the vacuum by several tenths of a bar. Clean the pad and slab before every use, without solvents.

Mistake 2: No margin at rated load

Anyone lifting a 70 kg slab with a 100 kg rated load is working with too little margin. Allow for at least twice the slab weight.

Mistake 3: Ignoring the display

A display is only useful if you watch it while carrying. A slowly falling value is a warning, not a cosmetic flaw.

Mistake 4: Reaching over the edge

The pad must make full contact. If it overhangs the edge of the slab, it loses contact area and the slab can tip.

Mistake 5: Working without a system

Vibration device, levelling system and clean adhesive distribution belong together. A suction lifter alone does not lay a large-format tile.
